FAQ'S

Your questions answered.

How long is a consultation?

Your initial appointment will be 45 minutes with both the doctor and the dietitian. Each follow-up appointment will last 15 minutes.

Every appointment with your Lifestyle Coach is 1 hour.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

At least three days before your initial doctor’s appointment, you must complete the online client questionnaire and have your screening blood tests undertaken. You will receive all the information you need via email from our Client Support Team when you make the appointment.

When you come to your first appointment, bring any previous medical or blood test results you think may be relevant or useful with you.

You will need to bring a three to seven day food diary (a record of what you eat and drink) to your first dietitian appointment.

How many consultations will I need?

Health and lifestyle changes take time. We recommended a minimum of four doctors and four dietitian appointments or, the number it takes to achieve your desired goals.

We offer lifestyle coaching as a once-off connection session or multi-session programs. The program sessions are conducted fortnightly and to ensure you keep moving forward with your goals, we recommend your lifestyle coaching program is undertaken within six months.

How long will it take before I start to feel different?

Everyone's journey is different and will be influenced by their starting physical state, health conditions and individual goals. However, most of our clients report improvements in the first few weeks.

The most common improvements include mental clarity, more energy, better sleep and weight loss.

Can I drink alcohol on your treatment plans?

Your doctor and dietitian will determine the best plan for your circumstances. We want you to still enjoy social occasions, so we include provisions for small indulgences, including alcohol.

I am a vegan/vegetarian. Will this still work for me?

Yes, low carb or keto nutritional therapy can still work for vegetarians and vegans. Your dietitian will individualise your low carb ketogenic plan to suit your needs.

I exercise regularly. Will this provide me with enough energy?

On a low carb keto diet, your body becomes fat adapted rather than sugar adapted. As a result, your body will use fat as your fuel when exercising. Low carb, high fat nutrition is becoming increasingly popular with athletes, particularly those who participate in endurance sports.

There will be a period of adjustment in the beginning, so we recommend taking it slow while your body adapts.

I have a food intolerance/sensitivity. Can I still do this?

Yes, your doctor and dietitian will work with you to adapt your medical and low carb keto therapy to suit your intolerances and sensitivities.

I have a fatty liver. Is this suitable for me?

A low carb keto program can manage Non-alcoholic fatty liver.

Fatty liver is caused by excess sugar, particularly fructose (found in table sugar and added to many foods). Excess sugar gets converted to fat in the liver. When you reduce your intake of carbohydrates and sugar, the body breaks down the fat stored in the liver.

I suffer from inflammation. Will this help me manage it without medication?

A low carbohydrate ketogenic diet can help manage inflammation by reducing insulin levels and increasing ketone production, both of which reduce inflammation.

I'm taking medication. Is this treatment safe for me?

Our doctor will work alongside you and manage all of your medications. Our goal is to help you come off your medication and live a drug-free life.

Can I still drink coffee on this program?

Yes, coffee is ok, but you may need to adjust what you add to it. Your dietitian will help you include coffee in your low carb keto program, minus the sugar if it is important to you.

Are all your staff qualified?

All our doctors are fully qualified Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Can I get private healthcare or Medicare rebates for my appointments?

Is low carb keto suitable for children?

Low carb keto nutrition therapy is very effective for epilepsy and seizure management in children.

Please feel free to discuss other health conditions with our staff.

I have insulin resistance, can low carb keto help?

Insulin resistance is the most common cause of chronic diseases. It is caused by an excess intake of carbohydrates and sugar.

A low carb keto diet manages insulin resistance by eliminating the macronutrient that causes cells to become insulin resistant, and that is carbohydrates. Our low carb program eliminates natural sugar, added sugar and starchy carbohydrates from your diet.

Do I have to be weighed?

We will conduct regular body composition analysis to accurately measure changes in your body fat, muscle, and fluid. This type of analysis is more accurate than traditional scales because it differentiates between muscle and fat.

As well as this we will monitor how your health is improving with changes in body measurements such as waist and hip circumference and blood pressure and with regular blood tests

What if I have to cancel an appointment?

Before attending your initial appointment, you are required to complete a financial consent document outlining our fee schedule, rebates applicable and our cancellation policy.

Fees will still apply where cancellation occurs within 24 hours of your appointment or if you do not attend.
