10 Simple Low Carb Snack Ideas

In the beginning of your low carb journey as your body works towards becoming fat adapted, you will require snacks.

Once you become fat adapted and are filling upon protein and healthy fat like meat, chicken, fish, eggs, nuts, olive oil, and avocados, you will feel less hungry and snack less. Many people find eventually they need only 2 to 3 meals a day and have no need for snacks.

However if you're feeling like you need a little something, here's 10 low carb keto snack ideas:

1. Low Carb Keto Seeded Crackers

You can buy or make these yourself. Olina’s and OB finest have low carb seed crackers with that you can buy, with less than 1 gram of carb per serve. They are a healthy low carb snack versus a Jatz cracker with up 30 grams per serve, more than 7 teaspoons of sugar!

2. Pork Crackling

This can satisfy the potato chip salty cravings! It contains zero carbs per serve versus potato chips with 30 grams or 7 teaspoons of sugar. It's a great way to curb those potato chip cravings without the carb intake. Eat them on their own or use with your favourite dip.

3. Go Nuts

The simple nut salted or raw is a great healthy low carb snack. Enjoying a good handful of salted dry roasted mixed nuts in between meals can help satisfy you and are low in carbohydrate. Macadamia and brazil nuts as they are the lowest in carbohydrates, avoid pistachios and cashew nuts as they are much higher.

4. Sweet Treats

For those with a sweet tooth, try a 75% - 85% dark chocolate. Satisfying with a with a cuppa in the afternoon or after dinner. Maybe nibble with some low carb berries. Alternatively, if you don't like dark chocolate there are some good milk, no added sugar chocolate options also.

5. Cheese Please

Any cheese is a great snack, as it is low in carbs and great on it’s own. Serve with olives and vegetable sticks for a quick tasty low can snack.

6. Beef Jerky

This a super high protein and low in carb snack. Great if you are on the run. Check your ingredient list as some can be quite high in sugar. Compare the total carbs per serve and pick the lowest in carb options.

7. Yoghurt

Another option is a greek yoghurt but again, be careful as not all yoghurts are equal. Check the ingredients for added sugars. You can add nuts or sugar free peanut butter, and some berries or even chia seeds for a quick pudding treat. These options will be under 7 grams of carbs, better than a donut at 51g or 13 teaspoons of sugar!

8. Low Carb Toast

Serve your favourite 85% low carb keto bread toasted with sugar free nut butters, or a slice of tasty cheese and tomato or even butter and vegemite. It’s quick and easy and of course still low in carbs. Some of our favourite toppings are no sugar peanut butter and 85% low carb Natvia Jam! An occasional treat on a quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa.

9. Cream Cheese + Vegetables

Cream cheese dips are super low in carbs, juts avoid sweet chilli. Dip with vegetable sticks, pork crackling or low carb crackers for a tasty and easy low carb snack.

10. Boiled eggs with a dash of sea salt

Simple to prepare and a great source of protein, boiled eggs can be prepared in advance and enjoyed a snack morning, afternoon or evening.
